Q: I didn't get a verification email, what the fuck?
A: Use the "forgot password" form and it'll send you a new one. Also make sure you didn't typo your email when signing up -- if that happens, reach out to me and I can help.
Q: I subscribed to somewhere, but it says it's pending?
A: We're waiting for the server that community's on to give us the thumbs-up on your sub. Give it a minute or two, then if it's still like that, unsub and resub.
Q: Is there a good mobile app?
A: Yes, you want any app that supports Lemmy -- there are a lot of them out there. I'm personally trying out Eternity on Android. For iOS, people are liking mlem.
Q: I still need help, how can I contact you?
A: Join our Matrix Space and ask for help in General.

The TL;DR: We have two UIs:

https://forum.guncadindex.com/ - Lemmy-UI. This is the default UI that ships with Lemmy with a custom theme slapped on top of it.

https://p.forum.guncadindex.com/ - Photon. This UI is slick, but it's missing a couple admin features (which isn't a big deal) and had a bug when we first deployed it where new user signups would erroneously get a "token validation error" or something. I don't know if they've fixed it.
The question I want you guys to answer is: Which do you prefer? I assume most people think Photon is slicker, but I could be mistaken.
If most people like Photon, I might give it a shot in the limelight again to see if they've fixed that bug yet.

Hello all, and welcome to the official GunCAD Index Forums, a place for anyone to discuss DIY gun content and all things adjacent. Browse around, everything should feel pretty familiar.
If you haven't yet, hit "Sign Up" in the top-right corner to make an account and get to posting. You can make posts in existing communities or create whole new ones if you want your own space.
If you'd rather browse, either scroll through the feed on the main page by hitting the logo in the navbar or hit "Communities" and browse for a ~~subreddit~~ community that seems interesting. Play with the selectors and sort options, too.
A Note on Reddit's Rule Changes
/r/FOSSCAD was banned a while ago, but starting October 9th, Reddit is adjusting its rules such that the following are now verboten:

User-to-user and user-to-vendor transactions of firearms and accessories (including things like magazines) where one of them is not a "licensed vendor". This completely destroys /r/GAFS and blows away all Super Safety advertising, too -- check out !supersafety@fosscad.io

Any directions on how to make a firearm, including 3D-printable design files and where to get them. This will absolutely be used to shut down even the thinly-veiled "Odd Sea" posting, which turns all of the 3D-printed gun sub hydra heads into glorified build showcases, if they're not getting banned outright.
The site is now actively, outwardly, and aggressively hostile to gun content more than they've ever been.
Comparison of Lemmy to Reddit
The site runs on a piece of software that's adjacent to reddit, but comes with a few key differences. The flow of upvoting/downvoting/crossposting content onto ~~subreddits~~ communities should come intuitively, but:

Tested the white pla pro one only a little doesnt feed great very picky for the mags. This one is pa6cf .6 nozzle 9 hour print. annealed for 14 hours will test soon.

This UI used to be bugged, with a couple rate-limiting issues among other things. Courtesy of some bugfixes, it's back in action again.
It's called mlmym, and if you ever need the link to it, it's in the sidebar.
If you encounter any bugs or issues with it, please report them here. Note that it might not have all the features the other UIs do as a result of basically just being the Old Reddit interface.

Nothing special, but it cycles perfectly and eats through ammo. If ammo wasn't so expensive, I'd shoot it more. I have another BCA upper, a 5.56, that is a blast to play with as well.
Lower is printed in Elegoo PAHT-CF. I'll reprint in PPA-CF if it ever decides to crack.

Fgc 9 got an custom bolt for pip 9 ammo and diy ammo in general. Will put a bayonet addon on the side picatiny Rehd22 is rocking a printed smoothbore barrel with no liner and for now it shoot 50 rounds no problem or wear and tare Will probably make a rhino next or a 26.5 semi auto and put broadheads on the ammo

Was talking with a few people about the UBAR3 and using a M5 nut in a recessed pocket for the grip screw. Looking at the files there are about ten different versions of the UBAR3 but I couldn't find anything about the differences? The file names are clear as mud.

Over 100 rounds have been thrown through the ARK so far. Brass, steel and subs. Only a couple jams still breaking in but functions great.

I'm looking for a printable hook style brace but I don't want the hassle of a folding one. Im just looking for a simple fixed brace that attaches to a pic-rail

haven't seen anyone talk about this so i figured id make a post here.
I built a G3 With a FMP Parts kit on a PTR91 Receiver, the trigger on the OEM trigger pack is absolute dogshit, there's so much mush. I wanted a AR15 trigger for my G3 but i couldn't find any Designs actually meant for a G3. so I printed a Full Size PTR Leber V2. Installed a normal push button safety. i also had to profile my AR15 hammer so it would clear the bolt, i used the meatballbanana jig to profile it.
it makes this gun so much more enjoyable, the ergos are way better with the Leber, i can actually reach the mag release on the side unlike with the OEM trigger pack. if you have a G3 this is a great upgrade
