Sorry for lack of updates, finished my degree. After making a few barrels I changed the trunnion mount, rather than using pins, you can use flat bar, and file the receiving channel on the barrel to fit them. Again, this uses no existing gun parts, and you can ECM the barrel. You will need a drill press to making the screw holes in the receiver plates, but I am also working on jigs with drill bushings and printed housings to make the drilling process repeatable and accurate. Feel free to ask any questions.

What kind of delayed bloback is it?

Linear moving angled wedge, turns out it’s similar to the savage a17, uses the same concept.

Have any animations of it in action?

No, but there is an animation of the savage a17 on YouTube, which has a very similar delaying system

I'll have to look it up when I get a chance, but how does it compare to lever delay like in a Famas?

I am a big fan of late 1800s to early 1900s firearms, wanted the trigger guard to reflect that somewhat lol.

Have you gotten this to the point of test firing yet? I'm very excited to see progress on the DIY delayed blowback front.

Still ironing out details, I will be doing test firing on private land after I move, so it’ll probably be a few more months. Working full time as well, so it’s been tough to dedicate time to this.

I hear that - I'm also in the midst of a move. Life gets busy. Nice work though!

Huge fan of the shape of it, any chance for an FRT/Binary for it? Love that it looks like a space pistol from an old twilight zone episode or sum

Thanks! I think since it has a 2 sear config, someone can def figure out a super safety for it.

How is this on muzzle climb compared to roller delay?

[–] noah@fosscad.io 1 points 1 month ago

u/Admirable_Scholar_36 · 2025-06-30 21:27:37 UTC · score 3

I don’t believe a delaying mechanism really has much to do with muzzle climb, as it doesn’t change how gas is ejected/directed from the gun.
