Hitchhiker Completed Build + Tips (forum.guncadindex.com)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by r3db3ard to c/builds

Hey guys! I'm extremely thrilled to show off my latest build. This is the Hitchhiker designed by Matthew Larosiere and released by thegatalog.com. This was done in Polymaker PLA Pro on my Elegoo Centauri Carbon, except for the red dot sight and the AR grip which were both done in ESUN Pla+. I assembled this using the MAF parts kit which was arrived very quickly and was very high quality and an amazing experience.

Here is a list of other things I have printed that differ from the original design.

  1. HitchHiker Three Shot Stock - https://guncadindex.com/detail/HitchHiker_3_shot_stock:6

  2. Pick Rail Barrel and Plain Optic from HitchHiker Sights and Barrel Pack - https://guncadindex.com/detail/optic-and-barrel-pack:4

  3. Wet Noodle AR Grip - https://guncadindex.com/detail/Wet-Noodle-AR-Grip:7

  4. Reddot At Home - https://guncadindex.com/detail/Reddot-At-Home:9

This was an extremely budget-friendly build that was not too complex for a beginner. If you are looking for a good build to get into after building a Harlot or a Cabfare/Gambino, then this is definitely the one I would recommend.

Turned out great man!

Nicely done! I've been recommending the Hitchhiker to newcomers for a while now. Arguably safer than the Harlot as a 1st build just by virtue of having your digits farther away from the explodey bits.

That is also very true!

How did you secure the fiber optic in the reddot @ home? I used super glue and it made it super dim

So I used super glue as well, but I squeezed it out on a paper towel and then rolled the fiber optic on its sides to ensure no glue covered either end so light passes through easily

I did not enjoy the original folding AR grip. Looks nice with a static one. I gotta take some pictures of my build, but I want to rattle can it first.

Whenever I need a folding grip, I like to steal the one from the PAC-MAC. https://guncadindex.com/detail/pacmac:9

I also had problems with the original folding grip. It seemed too loose for me and if I tightened it any more it’d crack and I’d have to reprint. The “Wet Noodle” grip is fantastic and I love the texturing
