I’m here to stay after my personal ban due to the guy that got Fosscad banned. I would love to see the community grow in here. It would be nice if we could change the format inside here to reflect more of a reddit style. I believe that’s why some are not using this forum. I’m not too savvy on what we would need to do, however I’m sure there are some guys here that are.

A small amount of friction when switching to Lemmy is not a bad tradeoff for a free and uncensored platform to share and discuss our hobby. The OG fosscad being backed up here too? Sheeeeiiiiiit. Thats a pretty good deal. But I get it, the web version is dated, and takes some getting used to. I started using Summit on mobile for the past few days and its sleek compared to the web version.

To reduce that friction we should get a tutorial pinned here too so newcomers know how to set up mobile versions as well.

What do you mean by "reddit style"?

I'm guessing it must mean something different to you, since this looks fairly "reddit style" to me. Albeit, reddit itself hasn't looked very "reddit styled" since 2008.

Most people are probably used to the cozy design and ease of use that the current mobile reddit app provides.

I'm here now too 👍🏻. I made an account right when it was made but I finally got an app to work making it more convenient to access. I'll push others to make the switch as well 👍🏻

If you're on desktop and want it to look more like Reddit, change the view to Cozy.

Voyager or MLEM on IOS, Voyager, Boost, or Summit for Android will give you a Reddit like GCI experience that's arguably better than Reddit's brain damaged mobile client.

There's photon, which isn't reddit but is way slicker than the lemmy-ui frontend we're using now:

I figured it out, but is there an app that works for this on my phone? Forgive me for be stupid, Im not real savvy with this.

A: Yes, you want any app that supports Lemmy – there are a lot of them out there. I’m personally trying out Eternity on Android. For iOS, people are liking mlem.
